Unit definition:
One Unit of α-N-acetyl-D-galactosaminidase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release one μmole of p-nitrophenol per minute from pNP-α-D-N-acetylgalactosamine (1 mM) in Tris.HCl buffer (100 mM), pH 7.5 at 37oC.
Specificity:
Cleavage of non-reducing α-(1,3)-N-acetylgalactosamine residues from human blood group A and AB mucin glycoproteins, Forssman hapten and blood group A lacto series glycolipids.
