Unit definition:
One Unit of cytidylate kinase is defined as the amount of enzyme required to produce two μmole of CDP from CMP and ATP per minute, in the presence of NADH, in TEA buffer (73 mM), pH 7.6 at 25oC.

ATP + (d)CMP = ADP + (d)CDP

The prokaryotic cytidine monophosphate kinase specifically phosphorylates CMP (or dCMP), using ATP as the preferred phosphoryl donor.
