Unit definition:
One Unit of oligo-1,6-glucosidase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release one µmole of p-nitrophenol (pNP) per minute from p-nitrophenyl-α-D-glucopyranoside (5 mM) in sodium acetate buffer (50 mM), pH 4.5.
Specificity:
Hydrolysis of (1,6)-α-D-glucosidic linkages in some oligosaccharides produced from starch and glycogen by EC 3.2.1.1 (α-amylase), and in isomaltose.
Applications:
For use in carbohydrate, biofuels and dietary fibre research.
